Update on Master's

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to share a little update on how it is going with my Master's. For those of you, who are new here I have been working on getting my Master's since March of 2020! I started right before Covid happened and honestly in the beginning I struggled a little bit because I, along with everyone else wasn't really sure what was going on in the world or what our future was going to look like. Zach and I were also in a long distance relationship and we had no idea when we'd be able to see each other again. So I basically freaked out a little bit and I took the first semester very slow. I completed the 3 classes that were assigned to me and then I took a month long break before starting my next term. In my next term I took things even slower. I only completed 2 of the classes and then ended up taking another break. By the time I complete my Master's it will have been almost 3 years even though it should have only taken me a year. I didn't really plan for it to take me this long but then again the world didn't plan for Covid and a global shutdown.

Now I know what you must thinking, "that must be expensive?" Well thankfully for me it is not. Due to my dad being 100% combat disabled he was able to receive some more benefits from the VA that he was able to pass on to me. So I had my undergrad years covered by the Post 9/11 GI Bill that he passed on to me and my graduate years were covered by Chapter 35. It has been a wonderful blessing that I have been able to complete all of my schooling without any debt and I am beyond grateful for that. I probably wouldn't have gone back to school if I did have to pay out of pocket or get a loan though just because I don't really have a career lined up where a Master's in necessary. It just has always been a personal goal of mine. I've always wanted to get my Doctorate, have an amazing 10+ year stint in the business world and then become a professor but that definitely is not really a goal of mine anymore. I have decided that I am done with school after this. I have definitely learned that earning a degree in the business world isn't really even that necessary. Most jobs, if you start at the bottom and work your way up will be totally fine if you don't even have an AA.

With that being said, I have two classes left and then my Capstone Project left. The two classes each have an exam that I need to buckle down and study for and then I am not entirely sure what the project entails. I  will hopefully be done in November but I did unfortunately slack off in the beginning of this term and now I am basically leaving everything to be completed in the last half of the term along with all of the trips that I have coming up. I did also have 2 trips in the first half of the term and I took a couple weeks off due to my dog getting sick and not really being able to focus. I have about 11 weeks left to complete everything and I think I can do it, I just tend to struggle with procrastination. I am really hoping that once I  have completed my degree it will help me get a job but I have noticed that most people don't really seem to care all that much if you have a Master's but not a ton of experience. Anyways, I will keep you guys posted on how everything is going and how the job hunt is going as well!

Thanks for stopping by!

XO, Steph
