To start with, my spring break from school is technically March 2nd
through March 8th. However, since I am taking all of my classes
online I have planned ahead and will have all of my school work done for that week ahead
of time allowing me to start my spring break on Thursday, February 26th.
I have been doing this for all of my other school breaks and other miscellaneous
vacations since I started taking all of my classes online and thankfully it has
always worked out wonderfully. Since I will be starting it so early this means
my spring break will be approximately 10 days long and I decided to go to two places
for this spring break; the first being New York City and then Washington D.C.
Why did you
choose New York City and Washington D.C.?
I chose New York City because my mom, my sister, and I have
been to NYC for every single season except for spring. Unfortunately since my
“spring” break is extremely early, it will not officially be spring yet so some
day we will have to go back and visit when all the flowers are in bloom in
Central Park (oh what a joy that will be for mine and my sisters allergies).
I chose Washington D.C. because I have been two other times;
the first being when I was a baby and the second time being when I was in
elementary school. Unfortunately since I was baby I do not remember a single
thing and then I barely remember anything from our second trip when I was
older. I also am a little obsessed with the show Scandal and so ever since I
started watching it, I have wanted to back to D.C.
Our Itinerary:
We will be spending about 5 days in NYC and 4 days in D.C.
My mom, my sister, and I will be flying out Thursday even on
February 26th at around 7:45 and we will be arriving in NYC around
10: 22 at night. We chose to fly so late at night because every other time we
have gone we selected a flight that left at around 6 am and after our last trip
we decided that it was not a good idea to do that anymore because we get there
and be exhausted and just want to take a nap. So this time we will be flying,
checking in to our hotel and waking up refreshed and ready to start the day. For
this portion of the trip, my father will not be joining us because he does
enjoy the hustle and bustle of New York.
After our 5 days of fun in the big city we will be heading
by train to Washington D.C. We selected a train over a plane because it ended
up being around the same price and I have never been on a train but I have
always wanted to. Unfortunately, the train ride will be a couple hours longer
than a plane ride but I am just excited about the experience. Our train will be
leaving at around 7 am on the 4th of March and we will be getting to
D.C. around 10 something in the morning where my father will pick us up at the
train station.

We typically try to plan exactly what we will be doing each
day but after our trip to Las Vegas this past October/November, we realized it is best
to create a list and put the most important items at the top and plan some of
them for each day and if you do not complete what you wanted for that day then you
can add those items to the top of your list for the next day.
Once I have returned from my trip I will do a full review
and post about what we did and new places we discovered.
Thanks for stopping by! Keep checking back for my post about
what I will be packing in my suitcase and carryon!
