St. Augustine Travel Diary

Hey guys,

I didn't take too many pictures this weekend because I wasn't entirely sure what we were going to be doing so I didn't think I would blog about it. However, we ended up trying out some tasty restaurants and we also did a little shopping at some of the boutiques downtown so I figured I might as well write about!

On Friday, my sister and I got into town around 4 something. We spent some time with my sister's friends at their house for a couple of hours until we met the rest of her friends in Downtown St. Augustine for dinner. We ate at an Irish Gastropub called Barley Republic. The food was pretty tasty and the Sangria was really good (It wasn't mine but I tried some!).

We also went shopping while downtown and a couple stores that I recommend include: Earthbound Trading Company and Red Pineapple Boutique. There was another store that I really recommend but I can't remember the name of it at all. It was really cute; it sold jewelry, unique pieces of art, and different accessories for the house.

On Saturday morning, we headed to the farmers market and walked around a little. They had some unique pieces of art, some new foods to try, and some live music. If you are a fan of farmers markets then I highly recommend stopping by because they open every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Next, we headed to the beach across the street from the house we were staying at and spent a few house theres enjoying the water and soaking up the sun. Technically, I stayed under the beach tent most of the time because I always burn no matter how much sunscreen I put on and I really did not want to get burnt. After the beach, we headed back to the house and relaxed for a couple of hours before heading to the grocery store to buy dinner. We ended up grilling some steaks and chicken and we ended up buying way too much food for all of us. And for dessert, we ended up having a fire and cooking some s'mores!

Sunday was our last day in town and we got up and tried to find something to do. We checked out Trip Advisor's Top 10 Things To Do in Saint Augustine and we had already done quite a few of them because this wasn't our first time visiting. The second recommended thing to do was the St. Augustine Distillery Company, which is what we settled on. I have never toured a winery or a distillery before but it was something that I had always wanted to. So I am very glad that we were able to do it! The distillery is only a couple of years old and the tours are free to do. So if you are over 21 and like alcohol then I highly recommend the tour (or even if you don't like alcohol, like me, I still recommend doing it!). It is only about 30 minutes long and the longest part is at the end when the tour guide does talk through recipe of two different drink samples for everyone to try.

As you can see the picture above, we tried two drinks: A Florida Mule (a take on the Moscow Mule) and a New World Gin & Tonic. I liked the Florida Mule but I did not like the second drink at all. It seriously tasted like I was drinking plants. I'm not entirely sure what she put in it besides Gin & Tonic but it was not a drink that I would recommend.

After we finished with the distillery, we went to lunch at another restaurant located downtown called Mojo BBQ. They have several other locations besides the one in St. Augustine so you may have eaten at one before, who knows?

Next, we headed to the outlet mall to do some shopping because one of the girls we were with was pregnant! So we wanted to do some shopping with her and we helped her pick out some maternity clothes and we also shopped a little for the baby. She's having a girl and it was so much fun getting to pick out some clothes for her. I can't wait till she gets here!

Have you guys ever been to St. Augustine or plan on traveling there soon? Let me know if the comments below and I can recommend some other fun things to do as well.

Thanks for stopping by!
