Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Hey guys,

So as I mentioned in my last post I have been pretty busy with studying for final exams. I currently only have one left and then I will be done for the semester. Since I am still studying and focusing on doing well on my last final, this post is going to be very short and to the point.

As many of you may know, a week ago today Target released the limited edition Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection and the line sold out probably within the first couple of hours of the doors opening and the sale even crashed the website. I originally wasn't going to post anything about this because I didn't really know what to say but then my friend suggested that I post something about it and so I decided to write something up.

Everyone knows that many people waited in line for several hours just so they could get their hands on the items to resell on other websites such as eBay and apps such as Poshmark. I completely disagree with this because they are selling items that Target wanted to be affordable for their customers for prices that are ridiculous.

The same day about a couple hours after I had gone on the website and saw that everything I had my eye was already sold out, I went onto eBay to see if anyone was selling any of the items on there because I was talking about with my mom and she suggested that that's what people were probably doing. When I searched on the app there had already been almost 1,500 postings of items from the collection and later on that same day while I was grocery shopping in Target I went back on eBay and almost 30,000 items had been listed.

I am obviously upset that I was not able to purchase any of the items of clothing from the line but I still don't agree with the people who are reselling these items for ridiculous amounts of money. I would prefer that these people keep these items to use and wear these items rather than them trying to rip people off who were not fast enough online or who didn't feel like waiting in line for hours.

The whole point of the line was to take a designer that sells high-priced items and have them create a line that is affordable. The line is not the same quality as a normal Lilly Pulitzer dress, which is the reason why they are able to offer the items at such a low price. The items sold at Target are not even worth the amount of money that the resellers are listing their items for.  I would definitely recommend buying used real Lilly for less money than what the resellers are selling the Target Lilly for because you know that it will be of decent quality and will most likely last you longer than the items from Target will. I would also recommend boycotting the resellers because they should not be making a profit off of something just because they waited in line for seven hours and possibly in the rain.

However, this is not the first time that has happened. Target has also collaborated with other designers such as 3.1 Phillip Lim and Missoni. Both of these Targets lines experienced very similar issues except this time people seem to care a lot more about the fact that people are reselling the items online. One recommendation I have for Target is to limit how many of each item people can purchase or limit the amount of items people can purchase in total. This may not seem fair but there might be less people trying to resell online (which seems to be even more unfair).

I have listed below some of the items that were my favorite from the collection however I would have not purchased all of these items. I definitely would have limited myself because I don't need all of these items.

I hope some of you were able to purchase what you wanted from the collection because overall the collection was beautifully designed and each piece deserves to go to a wonderful home!

Thanks for stopping by!
