Spring Break 2015: NYC Day 5

Hey guys,

So the 5th day of our trip (our last day in NYC) basically consisted of eating at two new restaurants that we had never tried before and doing all of the last minute shopping that we wanted to get accomplished.

For lunch we ate a place that my sister chose and it was called Tavern on the Green. She chose it because it has been featured in a few movies and TV shows and so she wanted to check it out. It serves American type food and it is located in Central Park on the Upper West Side.

As I have mentioned before I am a very picky eater and so I had a hard time figuring out what to eat because I didn’t really want to order something that I always order which is exactly what I did. Both my sister and I ended up ordering a cheeseburger and it definitely was not as good as other burgers I have had but it wasn’t the worst. The cheeseburger also came with some cole slaw and a side of chips.

For the rest of the afternoon we basically just walked around the city and shopped in whatever stores we were next to or had on our list to visit. I was trying to find a raincoat because according to weather report it was supposed to be raining almost the entire time we were going to be in Washington D.C. Unfortunately I never found a raincoat to wear but thankfully it didn’t really rain while we were in D.C.

For dinner, we were finally able to eat at Serendipity 3. We have been trying to eat at this restaurant since 2007 but every time we went they would say that they were only taking reservations so this time we made sure to call first thing in the morning and make a reservation. However, when we got there we did not need a reservation at all because only about half of the restaurant was full. I’m not sure if it was because it had started raining and so people decided to stay home and skip eating dinner or if it was because it was Wednesday evening. If any of you have seen the movie Serendipity with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, this is where a scene in the movie was filmed which is one reason why the restaurant has become so popular. It has also been featured other movies, TV shows, and books.

The restaurant is also famous for their frozen hot chocolate, which is delicious. We did not try any on this trip but we did try some when we went to Las Vegas last October/November at the Serendipity 3 located at Caesars Palace. This time we shared a piece of the Creme De La Creme Cream Cheese Cake between the 3 of us and honestly I still prefer The CheesecakeFactory. I ended up eating the Cheese Ravioli for dinner, which was very tasty.

After we finished with dinner we were really close to Bloomingdales and my mother was still looking for a new pair of boots so we decided to head there and do some more shopping before had to leave town. We each ended up buying a new handbag and my mom finally found a pair of Coach snow/rain boots to wear.

All of our shopping bags at the end of the trip

After shopping we ended up heading back to our hotel room to spend the rest of the evening packing up our bags and getting ready for bed because we had to wake up early to catch a train to Washington D.C.

Thanks for stopping by! Check back for the rest of my Spring Break trip!
