So I have to include
this first photo because my sister and I totally accidentally matched pajamas
on the same night. These pajama bottoms are actually from my 21st
birthday trip to Las Vegas and they were purchased the Paris hotel located on
the strip.
Today’s blog post
features what we did on day 4 while we were in London. We tried to fit 3
different castles into one day but unfortunately we were only able to make it
to 2 out of the 3. In the morning we took a train from London to Windsor so we
could visit one the many castles that are located throughout England. We read
in one of our tour books that Windsor Castle is the summer home for the royal
family and the one that the Queen likes to call her home.
The views from the
castle were really pretty and I definitely understand why the Queen enjoys
staying there! We got to tour the state apartments and Queen Mary’s Doll House
(which was quite intense compared to some of the dollhouses I had growing up).
The dollhouse is enclosed in a glass box and the dollhouse almost takes up an
entire room. The dollhouse also has running water, electricity, and even has a miniature
vacuum that works.
The town of Windsor
is very cute and I definitely wish that we could have spent a little more time
there but at the same time I am glad that we were able to fit so much into one
day. We the first train out in the morning and arrived at the castle when it
opened. We spent the morning walking the grounds and then headed back to the
train station which where we ate lunch.
This is a picture of the the Queen's flag which is flown whenever the queen is on the property. So basically that means the Queen was home when we were visiting her house!
For lunch, my sister
and I had jacket potatoes (aka baked potatoes in America). I just ate mine with
cheese and my sister added chili on top of hers. They were very tasty and very
large. Our mom had soup again because
she still wasn’t feeling too well.
The second palace
that we checked out was Kensington Palace which was actually pretty close our hotel
because we stayed in the Kensington area. However, we still had to take public
transportation because the palace was not close enough to walk to.
The inside of
Kensington Palace is set up really cute and I would definitely add this palace
as a must do on a list of things to do in London. A portion of the palace is
sponsored by Estée Lauder and has articles of clothing that have been worn by
female members of the royal family. I especially loved this portion because I
am obsessed with all things fashion! I included some of my favorite items that
were on display.
Another portion of
the palace is set up to tell a love story between Prince Albert and Queen Victoria.
It has love letters on display and tells their entire story as you throughout
different rooms of the second story in the palace.
In the evening we
went out and checked out Harrods and Selfridges. I don’t really have too many
pictures from the evening but we found this super cute house that I totally
wish I could live in, while we were walking around London. We didn’t do that
much shopping at Selfridges or Harrods but I totally wish we could have because
they had so many wonderful things there.
Thanks for stopping
by!
