Summer Vacation 2016 Paris Day 4

Hey guys,

In the morning we headed to a metro station to take a train to The Palace of Versailles. The way the train works, is it takes you to the city of Versailles and then you have to walk the rest of the way to the Palace. Thankfully you shouldn’t be the only one going so it will be easy to find your way there. Basically you just have to find your way to the main road and then walk all the way down to the end and then there’s the palace.

The palace works the same as all of the other tourist attractions in Paris, you wait in line, have your bags checked, you also had to go through metal detectors, and then you can enter the palace. We had the Paris Pass, which allowed us to go through a separate line but I imagine if you don’t have that pass then you get in line to buy your tickets and then get your bags checked.

The palace was absolutely beautiful and the grounds were insane. They literally went on for miles! There was so much to do there and if you research more and plan better, then you could definitely spend an entire day there and actually explore the whole area. The grounds featured the main palace, tons of fountains, bike rentals, golf cart rentals, canoe/boat rentals, and there were plenty of places to eat on the grounds. There was also a lot of greenery and gardens located all over the property. My favorite part was probably the roads because they were lined with trees on both sides and it reminded me of my favorite part of Central Park in NYC, The Mall.

We finished touring the palace and then headed to what I believe they called the food court. However, it wasn’t really a food court, it was only one little café with a bunch of different rooms filled with tables. We didn’t end up finding a table anywhere so we got our food to go and then walked outside to enjoy eating our food from a bench and enjoying the food.

We ended up renting a golf cart and driving it around the palace grounds for about an hour. If you have the money, I definitely recommend doing this because it will save your feet! If you end up walking the grounds, your feet will be killing you by the end of the day. If you rent the golf cart, then you can at least see the grounds without having to walk everywhere. It also allows you to see everything much faster so you can spend more time doing something else. We didn’t plan to spend an entire day there because weren’t sure about the train and we also like to make sure that we are seeing as much as possible in one day.

However, when we finished with the palace we left, went back to Paris, and back to the Eiffel Tower! We took some more photos in front of it on the bridge that is located in front of it. The bridge normally has cars that drive on it but the bridge was shut down because of the Euro games. The entire area was pretty much shut down because of the Euro Games. They were even Paris police and military surrounding the entire area and checking people’s bags before they were even allowed near the Eiffel Tower.

We didn’t stay until it twinkled because area was just too crowded for us. There were also really rowdy people (mostly men being men) around because someone had just won one of the games and everyone was really excited that they had won. There were also tons of beer bottles that had been smashed all over the ground so we were kind of scared to stay too much longer. I unfortunately don’t remember what we did for dinner.
