Top 10 Things to do in Paris

1) The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is obviously my number one choice because I am obsessed with it and have been for a long time. It was basically one of the main reasons I have always wanted to travel to Paris and why I spend so many years studying the language. You can literally see every single monument from the Eiffel Tower such as Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, The Louvre, and many more.

Fun fact, The Eiffel Tower was originally put up for a world's fair and was only supposed to stay up for 10 years but it became so famous that they decided to keep it up!

2) The Arc of Triomphe

I definitely recommend spending the money and climbing to the top because the views are absolutely spectacular, especially at sunset (which is when we went).

3) Notre Dame

The views from Notre Dame are also pretty amazing but you can’t really see as much because of where it is located. However, it was an amazing experience and one that I will not forget! 

4) The Louvre

This museum is insanely huge! People have always told me how large it was but I couldn’t believe it was actually that big. Also, it’s probably the best museum I have been to (and I've been to a lot) because there is literally something for everyone inside. I personally don’t enjoy visiting museums but my favorite section was the Napoleon Apartments. I love interior design and it was amazing to see how his apartment was set up back in the day. Also, I didn’t know this before going, but The Louvre actually used to be a palace and then it was turned in a museum, which is why the Napoleon Apartments are there.

5) Sacre Coeur

So if you know anything about Paris at all then you probably know that numbers 1 through 4 are probably the most famous attractions to visit in Paris. However, if you are a true fan of the city then you know that numbers 1 through 5 are main monuments in the city. I’ve noticed when talking to other people that they don’t know anything about Sacre Coeur and most of the time they have never even heard of it.

After going, I would definitely have to say that it is probably one of the most underrated monuments but at the same time, it’s a little overrated. For those of you who don’t know but Sacre Coeur means sacred heart in English. It’s a catholic church and it was beautiful inside but it definitely wasn’t anything spectacular. I think it probably took us longer to walk there than it did for us to walk around inside (we took this little train to get to the top so we didn't actually have to do that much walking to get there). However, with all that being said, I still highly recommend visiting! It’s still beautiful inside and I personally loved getting to see the neighborhood that it’s located in and getting to walk down the steps at the end. Also, if we hadn’t gone then we never would have discovered the street that was filled with souvenir shops!

6)  Champs Elysees

This road is amazing! It is filled with tons of stores to shop at and restaurants to try. And there’s a McDonald’s for those of you who are like me and still eat like a kid (haha, although I never eat at McDonald's in America)! There is also an amazing Sephora with some intense security!

7) A walk along the Seine

We were really only able to do this our last night there because we went when the Seine was flooded. And even by our last night, the flooding still wasn’t completely gone so we didn’t really get to see what the Seine normally looks like which means we totally have to go back!

8) Paris Opera House

This place is so beautiful inside! The main grand staircase it fabulous and inside the theater is just as amazing. The hall of mirrors, in my opinion was actually better than the one at Versailles, which is what it was based after.

9) Palace of Versailles

I listed this one as number 9 mostly because it's not technically located in Paris but most people still consider it to be a Paris attraction because of how famous it is. Also, since you have to take a train to get there, it does mean that you will have to spend a little more money than you might have planned. The palace is gorgeous but the grounds are even better! I highly recommend taking a day trip out there or even just the first half of the day. There is so much to do and see at the Palace, I wish we had stayed longer just so we could see more of it.

10) Moulin Rouge

So we didn’t actually go inside or anything like that but we did get to see the outside of it and it was nothing compared to what I was expecting. I have seen plenty of pictures online of the building and I’m guessing they must have been majorly photoshopped because I barely recognized it. Also, I would have liked to have seen it at night, all lit up, but supposedly the neighborhood isn’t exactly the safest place to be at night.

If the flooding hand't occurred while we were there, I would probably have some other recommendations but there were a lot of places closed on Monday and Tuesday which were our first two days that we had planned to spend entirely in Paris roaming around. Wednesday was Versailles, Thursday was Disneyland Paris, and then Friday was spent at the Eiffel Tower since it was one of our main reasons for going. So we didn't really have much time to do anything in the city except for on Monday and Tuesday. Whenever I am able to go back, I will definitely update this list if anything changes!
