How To Tuesday: 2 Makeup Looks for Valentine's Day

Hey guys,

So I know this is kind of last minute seeing as how today is Valentine's Day and all but I figured if you did have anything planned for tonight then you could just come home from work or school, take off all of your makeup and start fresh for a whatever your plans are for the evening.

I'm going to show you 2 different looks and yes this is kind of hard to through pictures but oh well, I'm kind of counting this as a stepping stone for working my way up to doing YouTube videos.

So the picture below is me and my everyday makeup look. Whenever I have a day off and I'm not really doing anything other than running some errands, I will only apply some foundation, some mascara, and then I will set the whole thing with my favorite translucent powder. I will sometimes highlight/conceal under my eyes depending on how tired I look but I didn't do that in this photo so that way I could start off with a simple look and then explain my steps in my makeup process.

This is the foundation that I used for these two looks. However, I will typically use a different foundation almost every single day. I really like to switch it up. Sometimes it depends on what I am doing that day or how hot or cold it's going to be that day.

This is the setting powder that I use. It's translucent and I typically buy it from Target or Ulta. Ultra typically sells out of it so lately I've been buying it at Target.

This is my one of my favorite mascaras and the one that I am wearing in both looks. By the way, each look has two coats of mascara and I am not wearing any false lashes and I don't have eyelash extensions.

This is what I look like after I've done my bronzing/contouring. I kind of do this weird thing where I contour with my bronzer. I have contouring powders but I don't like to use them everyday and when I do use them I typically will contour and then go back later and bronze my face. So with the bronzer look I do the same thing that I do when I contour except I'm mostly just trying to warm up my face and still make my cheekbones pop haha.
This is the bronzer that I used for these two looks. It's one of my favorites!

This is my highlight before the blending!
And this is my highlight after the blending. So basically this is what my face looks like before I've done anything else to it. So I have add any eyeshadow or blush. However, I am wearing mascara. Sometimes I will apply mascara before I apply anything else and sometimes mascara will be the last thing I do. It really just depends on my mood and what I fee like doing that day haha.

Makeup Look #1: Nude Lip and Pink Eyes
Just to let you guys know it is super hard to take a picture of yourself with your eyes closed haha. So this is best one that I got. I know it's kind of hard to see the eyeshadow and so I will explain it down below.
So this is the blush that I used. It's from Too Faced and you will definitely see a trend with Too Faced and no this post is not sponsored however, I would love if they totally did want to sponsor me haha! But almost every item in used for this look is by Too Faced. I never realized how much I love their products until I started to document it for a blog post.
This is the eyeshadow primer that I use. It's the only one that I use and the only one that I will recommend. I have tried several others throughout the last few years because I have extremely (strangely) really oily eyelids and so whenever I wear eyeshadow I always get so many creases and I absolutely hate it. But then I discovered this magical stuff and it's now the only one that I will use. By the way it lasts for a really long time because a little bit goes a really long way.
My sister and I were recently at a Sephora inside of a JcPenny and I found these adorable little palette's and so we bought them and I decided to use it for this look because I absolutely love that pink! It has a bit of a gold shine to it and it is seriously amazing! So this look is actually super simple! The second shade in the top row is the shade that is in my crease and I blended that really well so it kind of went all over the lid but not too much, then I applied the second shade in the bottom row to the outer corner of my lid and blended that really well. Lastly, I applied pink shadow to the rest of my eye by starting at the inner corner and working my way out making sure not to cover the entire lid. I stopped about half way and just tried to blend it together a little so there were no harsh lines.
These are the two shades of lipstick that I used and it took me forever to pick one so I just decided to go with both because one was way more pinkier than the other and the other one was more peachy so I decided to combine both so they would hopefully dial each other down haha. And my plan worked, I totally love the color even though it looked way better in real life.

Makeup Look #2: A Pink Lip and Bronzed Eyes
This is the blush that I used for this look. It's also one my favorites. It's actually from their 2015 Christmas line but I love using it still so much.
So for makeup look number 2, I used the Smashbox Full Exposure palette and I used the bottom 4 shades on the left hand side. I put the lightest shade thats in the middle all over the lid, then I put the next darker shade in the crease, then I used the second darkest shade on the outer portion of the lid to darken it a little, and then finally I added the darkest shade on the corner some more and then I used a little to line my upper lids. I The second darkest shade the line the lower portion of my eye. I didn't waterline or sightline. I'm not really a big fan of any of that. I only do it if I'm trying to make my eyes look bigger or if I'm going for a more dramatic look.

For the glittery/shiny eyeshadow I used the second one in on the left on the top row. I also used the lightest middle shade on the top row on the inside corner of my eye to highlight a little.
So this is the lip color that I used and it came out much darker than I was hoping. I wanted a lighter color because I really like to wear lighter pinks but I saw this in my lipstick drawer and I knew I hadn't worn it in a while so I thought I would try it.
This is the makeup setting spray that I use. I think that it's the best and I've tried quite a few over the past few years. But I didn't actually use this to set my makeup, I used to spray down my eyeshadow brush before I applied the glittery shadow. I've found that it helps for the eyeshadow to stick better if being applied with a wet brush and technically you can use water but I've also learned that it will last longer if you spritz the brush with a setting spray instead.

So I was originally planning on doing 3 makeup looks for this post but the last one was going to be a red lip and smokey eye look but then I realized that I have never done a smokey eye before and so I thought it might be best that I practice doing one before posting about suggesting to do one haha. I also rarely wear a red lip so I wanted to promote looks that make me feel comfortable and that I would normally wear. So I decided to stick with the two. I normally don't wear a nude lip either but when I do I try to stick to a more pinky nude because I think it suits my skin tone better.

Also, when doing these looks I did not use an actually highlighter on my cheekbones or anywhere else. If I were actually wearing these looks out on a date or something then I would use one but I'm running low on my favorite highlighter so I opted for the sake of not wasting any product haha.

XO, Steph
