Top 5 Favorite Drugstore Foundations

Hey guys,

So here are my top 5 favorite drug store foundations. I do have to admit though that I haven't really tried too many foundations from the drugstore. Other than these 5, I have probably only tried about 3 more and there are way more than that that I would really like to try.

Since I do have problematic skin I tend to stick with the more high-end foundations because they tend to be made a lot better. I love buying both drugstore and high-end and I would never recommend for anyone to just buy high-end but I have done a lot of research over the last decade (that's about how long I've had acne) and I know that my skin reacts better to the more expensive stuff (unfortunately haha). I really wish it wasn't that way since it does cost more money but I know that the higher priced products tend to be made with less harsh chemicals and they are just better for my skin.

But with all of that being said, I really do highly recommend all of these foundations and I will definitely keep you guys updated if any of these changes and I end up with different favorites after trying out some new ones.

Again I do have to mention that I have oily skin and I also tend to shop for a full coverage because I have acne and scarring.
Top 5 Favorite Drugstore Foundations

1) MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte + Powerless Foundation

This is probably my favorite drugstore foundation. It is one that I have been using for years. They reformulated it a few years ago and also created multiple versions of it. For example they have the matte and poreless option but they also have the dewy and smooth option for those who have normal/dry skin.

For me personally, this foundation leaves my skin matte for a quite a few hours and it doesn't seem to effect my skin in a negative way.  Most of these foundations don't really effect my skin in a bad way but sometimes it can be hard to tell when I am constantly switching back and forth between drugstore and high-end foundations.

2) L'ORÉAL Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation

This is my next favorite it is one that was highly recommended by one of my favorite Beauty gurus, Tati. She recommended it for quite a while and so I figured I should give it a try. I didn't really like it at first but then the more I used it, it grew on me and now I really enjoy this foundation. However, they don't sell too many different shades of this foundation and so even the lightest shade is still a little too dark for me. Thankfully I am really good at making foundations work for my skin even when they may not match my skin tone (it's one of the downsides of having really pale skin).

This foundation also has a non-matte version which is nice for those who do not have oily skin.

3) REVLON ColorStay Makeup For Combo/Oily Skin

I really like this foundation and it is one that I have been using a lot lately. They recently redid the packaging and added a pump top to the bottle which is great for trying to make sure you don't waste foundation. It is one of the main reason why I prefer to buy high-end foundations. They typically always come with a pump top and I almost always pour out way too much foundation and either half to waste it or just add more to my face.

This foundation also has a normal/dry skin option.

4) COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-In-1 Foundation

This is a foundation that I had a hard time with at first because I bought the second to lightest shade and it was still too dark and then I bought the lightest shade and it was too light for my skin tone. So I ended up keeping the lightest shade and just made sure to blend well and occasionally I added a darker shade of a different foundation. I would also add some bronzer on top to make sure I wasn't looking too pale haha.

5) RIMMEL LONDON Stay Matte Foundation

This is a foundation that is very interesting to be honest. It's a great foundation and one that I recommend (obviously, it made the list) but the texture is really strange. The one great thing about this foundation is that it is thick and because of that a little bit goes a long way. However, because it is so thick, it can be a little hard to blend. Since it is so thick, I tend not to use it very often since I do have sensitive skin. I really only use it when I want a lot of coverage because I am scared that it might clog my pores a little too much and cause my face to react.

One downside to this foundation is that there are not that many shade variations. I did buy the lightest shade and I have to make sure that I blend it really well into my skin and down my neck otherwise it can look a little to orange.

Another reason I tend not to shop drugstore so much is because they don't provide testers and I have really pale skin and there have been several times where I will buy a shade that I think is the right shade and it turns out to be way too dark or way too pale. Also, with drugstore they tend to not make as many color options which can be hard since I have pale skin. There have been a couple times where I wasn't even able to buy a foundation because I had purchased the lightest shade, took it home and tried it out, and had to return it because it was still way too dark for my skin tone.
